Places to visit in Kampala

Kasubi tombs: A UNESCO heritage site only a few km from Kampala city. It is the burial site for Buganda kings and here, you will get full insight about the traditions and culture of the Baganda people.

Namugongo Martyrs shrine: The Uganda Marytrs shrine is a place of reflection and spiritual significance in Uganda. It honors the Uganda martyrs that were killed by the king because they refused to obey his orders to renounce Christianity. 

Gadaffi Mosque: This is the biggest mosque in East Africa. It is situated on a hill overlooking Kampala city  and gives you a perfect view of the city and all the surrounding hills. Also discover a blend of Islamic religion and different traditions in the architecture of this mosque. 

Uganda museum: This is the oldest museum in East Africa. it features all the relics giving you a glimpse into the political,  religious and traditional history.

Owino Market: This is one of the oldest and most vibrant markets in the entire country. It is a very interesting market because you will find everything in one stop. In owino, enjoy a local meal served by the food vendors in the market and learn about the trading patterns of an average Ugandan.  

Ndere Cultural Centre: Located in Ntinda just a few km out of Kampala, Ndere cultural centre as the name suggests is one of the few places in Uganda where you will get an authentic yet modernised cultural experience. Enjoy fine dining with all traditional cuisines from every region in the country. 

Craft Markets: Kampala has a number of craft markets with the most popular one located on Buganda Road. Get a chance to purchase handmade crafts, clothes, bags, jewelery, shoes and other goodies. you can also buy a few souvenirs for your family and friends in this market.
